Hi Everyone,

There will be a display of I-Telex and 3 or 4 machines at the Milton Keynes Museum this Saturday.

Just awaiting final programming of numbers before I announce incoming lines, but we plan to have Chat GPT, News Ticker, and Maybe some other services on show.

It would of course also be nice to be able to demonstrate spontaneous incoming connections as well.

As soon as I have numbers I will publish them here.

Thanks
Sean

Good Morning All,

Following a late night session of testing with Henning (for which, many thanks!) I can conform the following numbers will be in use.

745705 HAMRAD D - Main Connection/display machine T100S

21279 Fibber G - T68 Telegram machine - both incoming and outgoing connections are possible

56101 Vulcan G - T100, mainly for News Ticker, but will of course be available.

I also will have a couple of serial connections available, but these are only for test purposes.

If there is space, then I may also bring another machine along, but time is running short.

Will update the forum when everything is set up and ready to go.

Cheers
Sean

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to all that tried to contact us over the weekend.

Connections were difficult, thanks to the local 4G cell being really unreliable - future events at the museum will need a better connection.

So, a brief report.

Saturday morning started early, with arrival at the museum around 0830, the staff quickly arranged access and the machinery was unloaded. Three machines were present , the T100, T100S and T68d, of course I-Telex was there, with two ethernet cards and a selection of line interfaces.

A fellow member of the Telecommunications Heritage Group (David) was on hand to help with set up, and also to explain and demonstrate the working machines, David, who is a recent member here too, will join us soon as an active participant.

We had a good number of visitors on the Saturday, partially thanks to the Telecommunications group having a swap meet a few kilometers away, so many members visited the museum as well, a lot of members of the public also visited, and some had fond memories of using Telex during their employment, and also during their time working with British Telecom - some Teleprinter engineers also visited, and made comments about the lack of English machines :)

The Museum was quite impressed with the simplicity of the system, and the ability to easily call up machines internally, and externally, some of the volunteers even suggested a permanent system would be good to have.

We ended up also staying on the Sunday as well, there were fewer visitors, but still good interest.

I will work with the museum in the coming months to see if we can make a permanent display happen.

I must thank everyone who called or tried to call, and offer my gratitude to David for helping out over the weekend - it would have been almost impossible to do on my own.
