Now that I have lots of connections working, I thought I would have a look at the T68D I purchased from Henning earlier this year.

I carried out the recommended lubrication (basically drown anything that looks like metal on metal contact with fresh oil and leave to work in)

I also replaced the suppression capacitor earlier this year.

I have connected the machine to my system, and tried some local connections.

Anything I type is received correctly on the distant machine, anything received from the distant machine is printed correctly.

The strange problem is that anything I type on the T68D is not printed on the tape, or punched correctly.

I guess this is some sort of adjustment problem, bur crumbs, there's a lot of stuff in there that looks adjustable. SO before I wade in and make a complete mess of everything is there anywhere I should be looking for a common problem?

check if the read-only lock (Mitlesesperre) is activated or deactivated.
The slider 290 must be in position 1.

Yes, the Mitlesesperre is in position 1.

The printer is printing characters, but say I type an "H", I get V or K, or B. if I press space bar, I get P or L, sometimes B....

ich habe dein Problem an meinem T68 nachgebildet.
Der Fehler ist wenn die Antriebswelle für den Empfänger
gebremst wird. An den beiden Enden der Antriebswelle sind
Kugellager. Sind die Kugellager verharzt wird die Welle gebremst
und es werden falsche Zeichen gedruckt.
Anbei ein Foto mit der Position der Kugellager.

Vielen Dank für die Information - ich werde über das Wochenende versuchen, diese Lager zu überprüfen - hoffentlich kann ich sie nachschmieren, ohne die Maschine ausbauen zu müssen.

Heute Morgen habe ich die abdeckungen an den empfängerlagergehäusen entfernt und viel gehärtetes Fett gefunden.

Ich entfernte die lager nacheinander, reinigte sie mit lösungsmittel und verpackte die lager dann mit lithiumfett.

Jetzt verhält sich die maschine korrekt.
