As the user map has not been maintained by the developer for a long time and will no longer work...
I have recently bought a TeKaDe FS-220(Z) with the impression that it would support V.10 out-of-the-box, as indicated on page 43 (31) of the manual . However, when it arrived, it only seems to have the arcane ADo8 interface , for which I can't find much information; it seems to be something from the pre-T.A.E. era . Nevertheless, I would still like to use V.10 to connect the TTY to my computer (Gentoo Linux), by converting the well-documented signal (EIA-530) to an RS-232 interface , which can then be converted to U.S.B. with the CH340 (supports five-bit character encoding) chipset .
Does anyone know how to use the V.10 interface with the FS-220 ? I was looking at ---the same vendor from whom I purchased the TTY---however I am very unsure at this point.
Seeing as there is some extra interest in the I-Telex System from other UK based Teleprinter owners, I have converted some of the original German Language manuals to English.
I claim absolutely no expertise in these translations - they were all carried out by machine, so may have some errors in translation. However, i have had a quick read through the documents, and I think the majority of the translation is good.
As time goes on I will collect any other I-Telex documents and convert them - they will all be uploaded in this thread.
If you are new to I-Telex, and have any questions, please feel free to ask - if I cannot answer them, I am sure that some of the other members can.
One of the items required for Telex operation, that normally is not needed for RTTY is known as a signalling unit (in the UK) or an FSG in Germany.
These are very rare in the UK, I have only ever seen a handful of them, and all but 1 are in a museum.
So, for the UK teleprinters a problem exists - what to do when you cannot find one of these units?
Fred has written FSG - O - FSG firmware for the TW 39 cards - will this also work for the Double Current cards?
Is there a way that the interface card could provide switching of a relay to control the power to the machine?
Or, a more ambitious project, using the attached document, is there a way that the signalling unit could be simplified and made using modern components?
In my Teletype 33ASR (Teleprint version) I have an unidentified PCB.
The card is marked BS292 on the sticker, on the back of the card there is a text ”TZ-197”
The Orange/White cable goes to Connector 1, cavity 6
The Grey ones goes to connector 12 on the motorcontroller BS263 and other places as well
The Purple/White one goes to connector 6 cavity14, connector 1 on the tape reader card, and some more places as well
The Blue cable goes to Connector 1, cavity 1
Can anyone Identify it, and possibly have a schematic, or identify the white the white component marked ROTA ELEKTRIK?
I'm happy to discover that there is a community which sees the beauty of old teleprinters.
I was donated two ( fjernskrivere in norwegian) teleprinters yesterday. One Siemens T.typ.37h (Fs Sk 2176/10) and one Siemens Fernschreiber 100 (L 22211-A100-G478).
The first thing that came into my mind, was to connect it to a Raspberry Pi with a homebrewed (or bought) serial->current loop interface, and make python program to fetch twitter/email/whatever and print it out.
After looking around on your webpage, i found out its more into it than that. Since its twenty years since i had german at school, i just understand pieces of the information.
I would be very thankfull if someone in the forum could kick start me on what my options are.
Now that I have lots of connections working, I thought I would have a look at the T68D I purchased from Henning earlier this year.
I carried out the recommended lubrication (basically drown anything that looks like metal on metal contact with fresh oil and leave to work in)
I also replaced the suppression capacitor earlier this year.
I have connected the machine to my system, and tried some local connections.
Anything I type is received correctly on the distant machine, anything received from the distant machine is printed correctly.
The strange problem is that anything I type on the T68D is not printed on the tape, or punched correctly.
I guess this is some sort of adjustment problem, bur crumbs, there's a lot of stuff in there that looks adjustable. SO before I wade in and make a complete mess of everything is there anywhere I should be looking for a common problem?
I am certain that this is covered in a manual somewhere, but I will ask the question in English here.
I now have 4 working I-Telex compatible machines, but at present only one active connection.
So, what I want to know is, how do I set these extra machines up as either an extension to my normal number, or can I assign these machines a different number that will allow I-Telex to route the call to the correct machine?
Apologies if this has already been covered here somewhere before
Dear all,
here is a new version of the ethernet-firmware for systems with 45 baud machines .
This version also supports the US-characterset (instead of ITA-2).
Here is the download path:

In case of any question, please ask per PN at first to prevent blasting up this thread.
Hi
I've just laid hands on a Swedish Philips PACT 200, and I have no clue what to do with it. I have a dutch manual, for a PACT 220, downloaded from this forum, but it doesn't help me much. I would like to do some kind of self test.
The machine starts up, but the only response I get from it is paper feed and alarm when I lift the paper feeder lid.
I've measured internal voltages, seen by the fuses in the picture, and they are ok within a volt or so.
My goal is to use this as a serial terminal, connected to a computer. Also connecting to someone over the internet would be fun.
Where do I start? I am a hardware developer , so I have access to a lot of electronics equipment.
Jochen and I are restoring a Teletype Model 14 Typing Reperforator , receive-only version. This unit was manufactured in the United States approximately from 1926 till the end of the 1940s.
The motor unit is currently under maintenance in a mechanical workshop.
In autumn I will report about this excursion to the history of teleprinting machines and pictures will be presented.
Verifiable owners of Model 14 please get in contact with me if you are looking for the service manual of this teleprinter (typing and non-typing version).
Now I finally retrieved the Lorenz Lo15 from storage. My father got it 30 years ago and it has been in storage since then.
It is quite dirty. And there are some surface rust on unprotected/unoiled steel parts. Those that were oiled well or painted looks fine (but dirty).
Serial number badge. What is 1,5 facher sperrschritt ?
This is the connector it has. Is this the standard connector for teleprinters? Is it possible to get the mating female connector?
I am going start cleaning up the keyboard and saw these rubber bumpers that is completely dried out. Anyone replaced them? Is there a suitable replacement?
Below the keyboard there is some greyish material. What is the purpose? Absorb oil spill? What is the material? It doesn't really look like asbestos, but one never can be sure. What do you think?
I was thinking about starting with the keyboard. What is the best cleaning method? I was thinking about using the compressor to gently blow away some dirt. Should I...
Hi All,
I just got my hands on a T100/z with a TELETRON TG44E.
Does anyone has the operating manual of this modem? It seems pretty complex. I connected it to the IF out of my Collins R390A, but i get little response to any signal. The scope line is also pretty at the bottom. Any ideas?
Thanks !
Mike.
I have a new machine here at the office - A Siemens T1000
Henning has already mentioned that the British T1000 is Special , so I will be needing lots of help to get this machine interfaced to I-Telex.
In general, are there any areas of the T1000 that have common issues that should be addressed before I go too far with interfacing the machine to my system?

- Model 90 Tape Verifier

Technical information about Creed Model 35 Tape Reader is available:
Recently I did acquire my first Telex, a Siemens T100. There is no FSG, just the machine.
After opening it up (and before applying power), it looked pretty clean, no mice droppings, dust nests and the like.
So power was applied and the motor started, cranks rotated, the gears spins.
But, the keyboard is blocked, and the mechanism which holds the ribbon moves constantly up and down
(ribbon also moves slowly from left to right and vice versa).
Is this supposed to happen, or is the 60mA current a necessity to unblock the keyboard and also to stop
the up/down movement?
There is also a little difference of this machine compared to pictures from the internet, there is a little
extra device with a switch mounted inside, just right of the lamp bulb. Any idea what it's meaning is?
lifting the switch manually stops the motor.
So, I have looked a little deeper into the BT Cheetah, from what I can see it is almost a perfect copy of the LO3000 - pictures to follow.
I have cleaned a lot of the dust and dirt from the PCBs inside the machine, and have repaired a problem with the X2 capacitor fitted inside the power supply.
This far, the power supply is giving all the correct supply rails to the motherboard (tested by removing the line interface card to get to the test points on the motherboard).
I have substituted the battery supply from the battery back up with my bench PSU just to make sure that everything is getting power where it should.
However, this is a poorly machine :( THe screen displays lots of random characters, and the illuminated keys on the keyboard are all illuminated.
I think there might be a problem with the CPU at the moment - either the eprom containing the data for the TP is dead, or the processor has a problem.
Does anyone with experience of the LO3000 have any ideas where...
It gets through ribbons at an amazing rate, and once the ribbon is at end of travel, instead of stopping what it is doing, it decides to carry on overtyping the last character.
I wonder if the ribbon transport should auto reverse to keep cycling through the ribbon again and again?
Or, is there a setting I do not know about that can slow down the usage?
Is there a longer ribbon available - I think the ones I am using from eBay are much happier on a typewriter.
Greetings. This is Paul, from Arvada Colorado USA. I'm working hard to try to get my Teletype Model 32 working on i-Telex.
First remaining known problem: I have far too much loop current (78ma) so am awaiting some resistors to bring it down. The Teletype was designed for 60ma. I believe, and it might work for 50ma but I won't know until I test it. I may have to significantly rewire the teletype to get it to work with 40ma. Another i-Telex user has provided me instructions do just that. But before I start rewiring, I will try with resistors to bring down the loop current. I've ordered some resistors and am awaiting their arrival in the post.
Second remaining known problem is that the ethernet connection is not requesting DHCP from my router. My subnet is 192.168.1.x. When I look on the router, I do not see any new devices registering. After the power and test sequence is complete, the green LED is lit. The button does not seem to do anything. My german is not the best, but the...
